For this editorial print project, I was asked to design the cover for a new women's ski magazine, Boundless. I began my design process by researching the target audience and creating mood boards for three initial concepts. After feedback from my peers, I decided to move along with the concept of "Not Cool". This concept focuses on bright, contrasting colours and content that pushes back against the gender-biased elements of the ski industry.

I then began exploring different typefaces and layouts for the masthead. I chose Helvetica because the thickness of the characters makes the masthead feel strong, sturdy, and proud, and the sans-serif typeface lends well to the target audience's preferences.

All edges of the masthead are creeping off the page to further emphasize the feeling of being boundless and free. It is bold, yet approachable, with no unnecessary "fluff" to stand in the way of the overall message.

The intended impact of this magazine cover was to inspire the viewer and begin the conversation about riding the ski industry from gender bias and sexism. I intentionally used bright pink to translate the use of pink-washing.
